THE ESSENTIAL BASICS FOR THE AFRICAN WOMAN.

Let’s be honest we have all seen the basics that make up the wardrobe so many times I can’t actually keep up. Most of them are usually suited for the European weather, like why do I need boots in this hot Nigerian weather, even during the coldest season that’s hamarttan I still don’t wear boots.
I decided to compile a list I feel is more suitable for my location. Enjoy..
1. ANKARA MAXI DRESSES
You can never run away from your roots, being African & Nigerian the ankara fabric in all it’s gloriousness is worned all year round there is never a bad season for it, cold, hot, dry season it’s always there. As far as I’m concerned every black person should have a piece even if it’s a sock period.

2. NEUTRAL SCARVES
As a Muslim the scarf is an essential part of my daily life, which makes it’s way on the list. I usually go for neutral colours because it goes with every outfit, our fabrics tend to be bold and colourful so it tones it down.

3. NEUTRAL SHOES
My go to colours are black, nudes, silver, gold, currently I’m on the hunt for a flat nude slippers because the gold one I’m using needs to retire unfortunately.

4. COVER UPS
Kimonos, light weight Cardigans, wraps and capes.. My go to is the kimono, I usually tend to go for chiffon it’s the lightest I throw is over a sleeveless, backless or strapless outfit.

5. A BLACK HANDBAG AND CLUTCH
I know the trend now is the coloured bags but trust me nothing saves the day like a black clutch or bag for an impromptu outing where you didn’t get the time to plan your outfit.

6. A PAIR OF DARK JEANS
It makes you look slimmer plus you can pair it with any colour of blouse you fancy and it’s practical.

7. BLACK BLAZER
Perfect for the workplace, just fold the hands and use a belt to sinche in the waist for dinner dates with friends.

8. POLKA-DOTS
Yes yes I am a polka dot groupie it reflects in all aspect of my life I even have it on pj’s. It has the three C’s chic, classy, cool plus it’s girly what’s not to love about it see I convinced you already.

THE WHITE FASHION TREND

Heyy hope everyone is having a great weekend let’s talk fashion!! What do you guys think about the white fashion trend going on right now? Well here are my thoughts on it, I’m LOVING IT….  There is nothing like seeing a crisp white or flowy outfit, there is just something about the innocence, freshness, elegant and clean look of it that gets to me, it just hits the spot.
I love a good all white everything look with a pop of colour or some wow factor thrown into the mix. Here are a few looks i came across that I liked with white as the IT piece. Enjoy.. Xoxo

Love the red heel here, it gives that pop of colour I like giving it that classy chic look. Ps every lady should own a white shirt because it goes with everything i mean everything!! Why don’t you give it a try and see.

You can never go wrong with a minimalist look.

Like a friend of mine said anything involving denim can solve any outfit delimma so check..

Nothing like a shirt dress to cap off that boho look.

When maxis are involved it’s a yes for me always, and that white blazer is not for the faint of heart.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

image

Hey guys, so let’s talk a little about pressure today. The fashion industry is such a hard nut to crack, people tend to be drawn to the end result, that is the glamorous dresses, perfect makeup & the glitz of it all not knowing the amount of work that goes into it.

I never really understood what it means to be a designer which by the way i am still learning, the long hours, endless researches, minimum sleep and all. somtimes i just feel like disappearing to some desserted spa island because of the pressure and stress that comes with it, but what keeps me going is my love and passion for what I do.

My dad always tells me nothing good comes easy, you must be consistent and also seek knowledge in whatever you are doing because it pays off in the long run. The reason i am writing about this to be honest is to let you know the fashion industry is not all peaches and cream sure when you see the end result which is your creation coming down the runway it gives you the chills but also at the same time being human i get doubts, i get tired & maybe think of quitting I just want to let you know, I know how you feel and you are not alone in this struggle but always try to keep a positive mind, persevere and have faith in your abilities also learn to surround yourself with positive people and also get to know people who are in the same industry as you because it makes it so much easier to share ideas and stories with people who can relate.
Hope someone can relate to this. Xoxo
